SOMATOLOGY/ HEALTH AND SKINCARE: The axilla facial

Armpit facials were basically developed to cure skin issues including hyperpigmentation and ingrown hairs as well as to enhance the overall appearance of the underarms. Somatologists/ health and skincare therapists use this treatment to lessen hyperpigmentation, soothe irritability, and lighten dark spots; they involve the application of exfoliating skincare products and calming formulae.

With seamless shaving, we’re putting our own spin on the current beauty craze! It makes obvious that we should use moisturizing shaving solutions to feed, soothe, and heal skin since many women shave their underarms.

You may not be aware of how fragile the skin is under your arms. Your armpits’ balance and health could be thrown off by neglect. Just like the rest of your skin, your armpits need to be taken care of, however this delicate skin can be neglected. Underarms that are dry and malnourished might result from regular shaving and the use of harsh chemical deodorants.

Somatologists/ health and skincare therapists use the axilla facial to soothe inflammatory ingrown hairs and lessen the look of dark stains. The natural bacteria in your armpits are mostly unknown to the public, and using non-natural deodorants might actually exacerbate the bacterium that gives you a bad scent.

Armpit facials keep the microorganisms in your underarms in a healthy balance, which stops them from smelling worse. It can be a good idea to provide relief for your unbalanced and undernourished armpits.

This facial can help clear up any blackheads and ingrown hairs you may be having while also brightening, hydrating, and smoothing the skin under your arms.

A special mask is applied to help remove aluminum, impurities, and build-up from underarms. Many sweat-stopping formulas can leave build-up and often worrisome residue that doesn’t wash away in the shower.

Some people go through a detox period while transitioning to a natural deodorant, which may involve excessive perspiration, odor, and irritation. By removing toxins from the body and restoring the balance of healthy bacteria, this facial has the unique ability to speed up and smooth the transition to a natural deodorant.

Waxing in HEALTH AND SKIN CARE/SOMATOLOGY /BEAUTY AND NAIL TECHNOLOGY

You are probably wondering why one should get a wax treatment instead of shaving and this is why:

Firstly let’s start by defining what waxing is: Waxing is a hair removal method that is used to effectively remove hair from the hair follicle and not from the surface of the skin, a sticky substance, such as wax is used to adhere to body hair, and then removing this covering and pulling out the hair from the follicle.

New hair will not grow back in the previously waxed area for four to six weeks, although some people will start to see regrowth in only a week due to some of their hair being on a different human hair growth cycle. Almost any area of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows, face, pubic hair (called bikini waxing), legs, arms, back, abdomen, knuckles, and feet.

The somatologist/health and skincare therapist will select the type of wax used depending on the area to be treated. The area being treated will determine the type of wax that should be used by the therapist to remove the hair. When treating areas such as the as the arms or legs your somatologist/health and skincare therapist/beauty and nail technologist will select cold wax and this is because cold wax is suitable for removing fine hairs found on the body which we refer to as vellus hair.

When removing hairs from areas such as the bikini or underarm, hot wax is the best option of wax to use because, hot wax adheres to the hairs stronger and more thicker than cold wax, which makes it more effective for removing shorter ,thicker and coarse hairs from the root.

After the treatment the somatologist/health and skincare therapist/ beauty and nail technologist will provide you with some aftercare and homecare advices that you will follow at home to ensure that the area worked on is protected and not prone to infections or sensitivity.  Advices will include the following:

  • To avoid heat treatments, such as the sauna or steam rooms.
  • Avoid sun exposure, should you need to go into the sun wear protective clothing e.g. long sleeves.
  • Avoid using any perfumed products.

Benefits of waxing:

  • Shaving can cause rashes on sensitive skin.

Razors can potentially cause cuts, red bumps, razor burns and rashes, especially on sensitive skin while with waxing products, skin is less susceptible to these types of abrasions.

  • Less itchiness and stubble.
  • Waxing is fast and convenient.
  • Removes hair directly from the hair follicle.
  • Regrowth is slower.
  • Regrowth is finer.
  • Produce good results.
  • Desquamating effect.

When hair is removed by depilatory creams or by means of shaving, the hair is only removed from the surface of the skin rather than the hair root being removed from the hair follicle. Within days, the hair can reappear. With such methods, hair tends to grow back in rough stubble. Areas that are repeatedly waxed over long periods of time often exhibit regrowth that is softer. Microdermabrasion In AESTHETICS/SOMATOLOGY/HEALTH AND SKINACARE

AESTHETICS/SOMATOLOGY/HEALTH AND SKINACARE: Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure used to rejuvenate the overall tone and texture of the skin. It can help to reduce the appearance of sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, acne scarring, melasma, and other skin concerns and conditions. To rejuvenate the skin, a special applicator with an abrasive surface is used to gently sand away the thick outer layer.

The term “abrasion” may put you off; leading you to believe that microdermabrasion will be painful. However, microdermabrasion should not be harmful. It may feel a little uncomfortable the first time you have it done, and your skin may feel quite tight afterwards. Later on, you may notice that the treated area of skin is quite warm.

You should be open and honest with your somatologist/aesthetician about your level of comfort. They can always increase or decrease the suction level to make it more comfortable. If you have sensitive skin, please notify your health and skincare therapist/somatologist/aesthetician during the consultation process.

Since the outermost epidermal layers are nonvascular, little bleeding might occur during the treatment. For the best results, six treatments spaced out during the first 12 weeks at 2 week intervals are often recommended. By promoting the upward movement of skin cells from    the lowest or deepest layer of the epidermis, the recurrence of this process every 4 to 8 weeks will aid in maintaining the skin’s health and radiance.

Because microdermabrasion works by effectively removing the top layer of skin, where many skin issues can be found, it is most commonly used to treat:

  • Minimizing the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Age spots and hyperpigmentation are reduced in appearance.
  • Getting rid of blackheads and swollen pores
  • Taking care of acne and any associated scarring
  • Reducing the visibility of stretch marks
  • Getting Rid of Uneven Skin Tone and Texture
  • Melasma (patches of discoloration)
  • Managing Sun Damage
  • Fine wrinkles and lines
  • Dull skin
  • Mild acnescars
  • Sun-induced photo damage leading to hyperpigmentation or age spots
  • Coarse pores
  • Stretch marks or striae distensae

Microdermabrasion has the following advantages:

  • It is reasonably comfortable.
  • It poses few risks or complications.
  • There is no downtime.
  • It is safe to perform during pregnancy if chemical skin cleansing is avoided.

High Frequency Facial In HEALTH AND SKINCARE/SOMATOLOGY

In the Somatology/Health and Skincare scope of practice, the high frequency treatment is one of the best offered treatments because of the numerous benefits that this treatment offers.

A glass high frequency electrode is the common component of all high frequency facial machines and is used to treat diverse body and facial features. A little electrical current flow through the glass electrode packed with neon or argon gas when it is applied to the skin, giving it a slight glow and buzzing sound. The electrodes emit either a neon red/orange or a violet/blue light, depending on the inert gas they are filled with. Violet is typically used to treat acne-prone skin, while red is typically used to cure aging skin. However, new research has shown that both are equally beneficial regardless of the skincare condition.

Enriched oxygen molecules created during the high frequency treatment have an antibacterial effect and “naturally” warm the tissues. In addition to providing your skin cells with nutrients and moisturizing volume, this process aids in the removal of toxins from your blood vessels. As a result, blood circulation and cell regeneration are boosted, supporting higher amounts of collagen and elastin. After just one treatment, the skin feels immediately revitalized and visibly softer.

High frequency helps to treat acne issues by increasing oxygenation of the skin, which enhances its general texture, tone, and radiance. All of this encourages the stimulation of collagen and elastin formation, giving skin a firmer and younger appearance. High frequency oscillation promotes lymphatic drainage and helps distribute extra fluid evenly

High frequency has been shown to be useful on practically every skin condition, including burns and cold sores. High frequency facials are thought to be a safe, gentle, and therapeutic method of skin rejuvenation that promotes rapid healing and skin health restoration.

The high frequency facial can be used to treat and prevent obstinate acne, minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, decongest puffy eyes, lighten dark under-eye circles, nourish hair follicles for healthy hair growth, and even revitalize the condition of the scalp.

High frequency, which is regarded as a traditional and fundamental skin rejuvenation procedure in the skin care business, softly warms the skin’s tissues while stimulating cell renewal and assisting with better skin care product penetration and absorption.

High frequency facials provide a mild and safe alternative to invasive skin rejuvenation techniques including collagen and Botox injections, laser resurfacing, chemical peels, and dramatic plastic surgery treatments. Results from using high frequency for anti-aging objectives can differ by person and skin type, are gradual, and do not happen right away!

Regular high frequency face treatments can be quite efficient at minimizing enlarged pores, softening skin, regulating excessive sebum production, and getting rid of blackheads. The high frequency current’s gentle oxygen spray reduces dilated pores by reaching deep into the affected area’s root and clearing out undesirable dirt and toxins, allowing the pore to swiftly return to its original size.

High frequency’s oscillating action helps improve blood flow, which in turn nourishes the skin’s surface and regenerates underlying cells. Additionally, it generates enhanced oxygen, which can give the skin a firm, vivid, youthful glow. By encouraging greater collagen formation, it can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles tighten double chins and enhance the overall texture and tone of the skin.

Somatologists/ health and skincare therapists also use this treatment to treat cellulite. When used with a high-quality cellulite solution, high frequency treatment can be quite efficient at reducing the appearance of cellulite with consistent use. This same high frequency, oxygen molecule-producing technology has been used for years in the skin care business to help with lymphatic drainage, gently exfoliate the skin, stimulate blood circulation, aid in the formation of collagen and elastin, and support healthy cell metabolism. Skin that is softer, firmer and more polished as a result.
