This massage stems from Asian tradition and is over 2000 years old. Chinese Buddhist monks in the Han and Tang Dynasties would offer knife massages to the severely ill if other conventional medicine failed to show results. The tradition died out in China; however, Japan and Taiwan still offer this unique, massage.

It is reported that it does have a similar effect to most massages of Chinese origin. The knives target “qi doors”, or pressure points, like other types of Chinese medicine like acupuncture.
Although it may sound scary, the knife blades are dull and blunt, so there is no chance of harming your client. The metal blades are used in a quick, chopping motion, to remove negative energy while working on pressure points and relaxing your muscles.

The massage ranges from 10 to 60 min. The massage will focus on areas like the shoulders, neck, upper arms, and head or lower back, hips, and legs.
